Lab-scale Reactors

In addition to the main pyrolysis plant, lab-scale pyrolysis units are used at ITC to better understand the influences and mechanisms during pyrolysis. This forms the basis for further technological development. Additionally, liquid pyrolysis products can be separated into different fractions using the vacuum distillation unit, which can then be analyzed and further processed.

  • Pyrolysis of polymers and plastic waste
  • Experiments in batch operation for generation of pyrolysis products
  • Mass and energy balance derivable
  • Well-defined reactor conditions regarding feedstock homogeneity and process parameters
  • Capacity < 1 kg Feedstock
  • Temperature < 600 °C

  • Measurement of the boiling curve based on ASTM D-2892
  • Up to 20 fractions between 0 and 420 °C AET
  • sample volume between 0.3 and 1.2 L
  • column with structured packing for up to 30 theoretical
